FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What is the league's refund policy?
If a refund is requested prior to close of registration, SAAA will provide a refund minus 15% for the cost of administration.
There are no refunds after the close of registration, except under the following circumstances: (1) After the close of registration but before opening day, a parent may receive up to a 50% refund if there is proof of injury to player; (2) In the cases of exceptional circumstances, the Board may, at its discretion, provide a complete refund of registration costs.
- Can my player play up in a higher age division?
Yes. A player may "play up" an age division upon request and availability and at the board's discretion. When considering having a player play up, consideration should be given to the (1) the player's age, (2) emotional maturity, and (3) playing ability. It is important to keep in mind that playing up can create an age difference of three years or more depending on the age division. The board will generally deny a request to play up if the player is new to the sport, has not played at least a season at his or her correct division or believes that playing up would take the opportunity to play from other players who are correctly registered in that division. If you are interested in having your player play up a division, please contact the Player Agent or Softball Coordinator to discuss.
No. Playing down an age group is generally prohibited.
Yes. Per SAAA's policy, siblings will be placed on the same team if playing in the same age division. This sibling rule does not extend to extended family members.
To be a frozen player, the head coach of the team will contact parents and will request the parent's permission to freeze the player. A frozen player will not need to attend evaluations. Generally, teams have 6 freezes. The coaches' kids count as a frozen player and if a coach freezes a player with a sibling at that age group they must freeze the sibling(s) as well.
Players evaluations are VOLUNTARY. The purpose of the player evaluation is to allow coaches to select players on the teams. The evaluations serve the purpose of trying to ensure competitive balance throughout the league. The evaluations are at Leroy Johnson Park (6646 Highway 16, Senoia, Georgia). The date of the evaluations will posted to Facebook and the website and will be posted at least three weeks prior to the date of the evaluations. If you are unable to attend and your player is not frozen, the player will be blindly drafted and assigned a team.
SAAA provides each player as part of the uniform package: the jersey, hat (baseball)/visor (softball), socks, and belt. Parents are to supply the game pants. Head coaches will inform the team what color game pants are needed for the season.
Practices can begin as early as August 7th.
It depends on the dates assigned to the coach. Practices can be held any day of the week. Generally, practices will be held sometime between 5:15 PM and 9:00 PM during the week, between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Saturday, or between the hours of 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Sundays.
It depends on the age group and Sport. Softball plays a 10 game season (exclusive of the end of season tournament). Baseball varies depending on the age group. 4U tee ball plays 10 games, most divisions will play between 12 and 15 games per season. Generally, there will be an end of season tournament for baseball (divisions 6U through 14U).
It depends. Games are played every day of the week (including Sundays for makeups). Games played during the week can start as early as 5:00 PM. We "double stack" games meaning we will have an early game and late game during the week. For example, we may have a 6U game start at 5:30 PM on a field and a later 8U game start at 7:15 on the same field each night.
Each player will need to (1) a glove, (2) a bat, (3) helmet, (4) bat bag, (5) cleats (rubber) or turf shoes, and (6) baseball/softball pants for practices and games.
The board will communicate field closures by email and posts on Facebook. The board also sends the head coaches through Remind a text that the fields are closed so that the coaches can communicate the closure to their teams. If you are scheduled to play a game at an outside park, the board will communicate outside park closures to the head coach of the team and by email to the team. If you have any questions about whether a outside park is open or close, we recommend checking the other association's Facebook or webpage for more information.
Each team will be assigned a concession shift once or twice during each season. The team is required to provide two volunteers to work the concession stand for a 3 hour shift. The shift will not overlap with scheduled games. Thus, no parent will miss there player's game. The concession schedule is posted at or near the time the game schedule is released.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email SAAA.
